There are very few things that constitute an emergency in my liitle world. Stepping out of bed and feeling water squish between my toes is certainly near the top of the list. This morning, that is exactly what happened.
Last night the silicone seam on one of my aquariums decided that it just didn't want to do its job anymore. Fortunately, this was on the 29 gallon aquarium that houses my various filters and pumps and not in the main display tank. Even more fortunate, all my various check valves and shut-offs did what they were supposed to do if such a dire fate would befall one of my tanks and shut down the transfer pumps. All told, I probably lost 5 gallons of water . . . which is not bad considering it could have been well over 100.
I ended up taking the day off of work to fix my problem. Since everyone knows that my aquarium is the closest thing I have to a girlfriend, no one even questioned it. I ditched the 29 gallon glass tank and replaced it with an industrial 45 gallon rubbermaid trashcan. It may not be pretty but it sure is not going to leak!
The water is finally clearing from all the movement of sand, rock and equipment. It looks like all the critters in the big tank survived the ordeal however, I am still missing two of the three crabs that used to live in the small tank. I fear that I may have burried them under 10 inches of sand that now sits in the bottom of the trashcan.
It was too beautiful a day to be in the office anyway . . . 77 and sunny without a cloud in the sky!

Thanks for the words of encouragement on the gym - I am finding that it isn't as bad now that I am getting into a routine. I may be ready for that mud run yet
