Looks like 2006 is going to be an interesting year for me.
I got back from Seattle last night after a busy and productive week. The most notable result of the week being that they would like me to transfer. While my current contracts would not allow this transition in the next few months, August is looking pretty good.
The office there is in an ideal location downtown - two blocks from the Pike St Market, two blocks from the symphony hall. The office even provides everyone with parking and bus passes. The provide everyone with laptops and encourage them to work at home two days a week. Oh, and it was voted the best place to work in Seattle for 2005.
Offer or not, it all comes down to one thing - I like it there.
Taking a little time to drive around yesterday morning, I have located a few areas I like outside the city. I am looking at somewhere between 10 and 20 acres of undeveloped land 20 to 50 miles outside the city with a view of the Cascades and some form of tributary running though it, be it a creek or river. These types of properties are pleantiful and affordable.
Since I seem to have been able to build everything else of worth in my life with my own two hands, I will be building the house myself. It should make for a fun adventure. Good thing my company has the resources I will need for designing and planning the project.
