I asked someone today if he drank, and he says "no i'm not old enough." Jeesh what has happened to today's youth!?

Last night was pretty fun... wish I coulda stayed longer but I was being responsible and getting home so I could get crap accomplished today. Mill was crazy, TONS of people in costume... psychotic christians handing out bibles and screaming at people with megaphones, etc. It was great! OH and I got to see some woman dressed in a dominatrix outfit walk up and whip a guy that the police were handcuffing... how great is that?? "Hey you boys look like you could use some help!" *WHIP* "MAM! GET BACK!" hahaha...

Next year i'm going as Hunter S. Thompson. Mainly as an excuse to carry around a flyswatter.

But on a different note... not many people may know this about me, but I am a rather superstitious person. My grandmother on my father's side and her whole family are Irish Gypsies(travellers), and the other side of that family have a history of being Irish historians(story tellers basically... and the stories of the history get handed down through the generations.)

This is all leading somewhere... trust me. Now, Halloween is actually the Festival of Samhein. Historians will argue the point one way or the other, but the fact of the matter is this... there was no written celtic language, traditions and history were handed down the generations from father to son in story. That is how records were kept.

Samhein was not "god of the dead" he was "lord of the dead". There is a difference. When the Romans invaded Ireland, they wrote it as "Deus Ex Mortis" ... god of the dead. This is incorrect.

Sam Hein was actually an Irishman who dabbled in the dark arts, calling forth evil spirits to do his bidding. One day he grew so powerful that he could command legions of the undead. The only problem was that the world of the living and the world of the dead exist ontop of eachother, but not in a way that he could bring armies of the damned through easily. He worked his magics until finaly he found a way to create a doorway between the world of the living and the world of the dead. He began marching his armies of evil spirits into our world to conquer it. For every man that fell, his armies grew, and he would soon take Ireland as his. The druids could not close the doorway that had been opened in a way that would be perminate, so they sealed it by making a pact.

When the barrier between our worlds was weakest, there must be a celibration to honor the dead and give offerings. If not, the door would open once again. The catch was... since the barriers were weakened there was the danger of evil spirits getting out and posessing those that were brave enough to venture out and celibrate. SO they began to dress as demons and ghouls and monsters to fool the evil spirits while they celibrated to honor this pact. However, when a day comes that no one with druid or irish blood in their veins celibrates or gives reverence on this day, the doors will open and the armies of the undead will march upon the world.

So to anyone who thinks this is an unholy holiday... keep in mind those of us that are celibrating are doing it for your own damn good. Stop trying to say the holiday is satanic... its nothing of the sort. Not to mention All saints day(today) is considered one of the most sacred observances of the Catholic calendar year... and A POPE was the one who created the christian holiday of Halloween as it exists today.

Yes, I'm supersticious, yes I believe that to probably be a true story even though the details are somewhat hazy from being retold every generation. Celibrate halloween every year, and have a drink to the dead... pay them homage.
