mary's recent set got me thinking about hawaii. i used to have relatives there and would go kinda frequently. nice place to visit, but when i'm there it's like that old brady bunch episode. totally cursed. the last time i was there i got 15 stitches under my right eye after some local douche surfed right into my face. thanks, guy.
the time before that i was on the north shore of oahu and fell 40 feet off a cliff. that one was my fault, and no serious injuries, luckily. too much paki-lolo (da kine bud)
hawaii's one of those places that is totally beautiful, but underneath i found it desperate and seedy. lots of poverty, territorialism and anti-tourist discrimination. when i was getting my stitches, the dude next to me, a mainlander, had a total phd (pumpkin head deluxe) as he was jumped by a bunch of locals for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. hawaii also has a problem with "ice", their version of crack.
i love tiki stuff and hula-girl imagery but i'm in no hurry to go back there.
