i'm pretty sure i have started off a monday morning journal entry with that particular elvis costello quote before, but it's appropriate, so fuck it.

it's taking me a long time to hunt and peck because my fingers are having a hard time finding the proper keys this morning. i'm suffering from an ancient chinese disease (dragon-ass), my ears are still ringing just a little bit from the reverend horton heat's patented brand of rock and roll salvation, and i'm hungover and nasty from less than 4 hours sleep. it was worth it, though... the reverend is nothing if he isn't consistent, and i needed to get out and shake my ass, or at least have it rocked off.

i'm feeling strange today... my mom called and said my dad broke down and apoligized to her before heading back east with tears in his eyes. he even tried reconciling with one of his brothers. my family is just like that, i guess... a tragedy will bring everyone together for a moment before they settle back into their old routines. when something terrible happens, people wake up.

i've realized lately how important writing stuff like this down has been for my mental health. people give me funny looks when i tell them i have a journal that anyone can read, but i think it keeps me honest.
