I danced with the bride of the elephant man and when we moved out of the spotlight, when my dancing shoes swept around the dirt in the corner she whispered. Her voice was soft and her lips touched my ear.
"You'll always be just a fool in the shadows" she said and carried away by the music we danced back into the light. Not the spotlight. A dim red light that made her look like the elephant man himself.
