here is the post I was about to write:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I lost my ring!!!

this ring has been w/ me forever... it was the first thing I negotiated for in Mexico some 6 billion years ago (yes I forgot what year I went... <shrug> ) .... this ring has been w/ me around the world, its survived through all my adult relationships, its survived accidents, its survived being lost, its survived arguments and altercations, its survived weddings and other formal outings; its been dirtied and scuffed and bent, but never broken; it just, survived.... and unlike my hair, or my cloths, or backpacks, or any other "accessory's" that I may have, this is the item that has never left.... and now its gone....

the thing is, it has never "fallen" off before... if it ever got close to coming off, I noticed... but this time... nothing... but I guess somewhere between skateboarding home in the pouring rain, or doing dishes, or passing out from exhaustion I've lost it....

also, I never do dishes w/ it on... but this time I did, and I made a mental note of it..... that's where it MUST be...... so I promptly ripped the sink/garbage disposal apart, and nothing... nothing except that I fixed the garbage disposal (it was already apart, and its been broken for mths, so I figured "why shouldn't some good come of this").....

its a sad day...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and I found it..... biggrin

where you might ask???

well, it was under a book, which was under a pillow, which was under a blanket... all of which I had moved looking for it..... how did this happen??!?! I haven't a clue b/c I searched that area, twice... either in panic I missed it, or it somehow rolled to that spot as I tossed the book there.... who knows.... chaos theory at its finest....

Q. what is as important to you as my ring is to me???

My cat.
Just like the one before him, Twine, I took him everywhere with me. He was my brother's and I stole him and when my mom kicked my 17 year old ass out I took him to my dad's. Then one day someone let him out.. and he got eaten by a coyote. I was already depressed about living on a cot in a pink laundry room transformed into my grade 12 bedroom, then the universe had to go take the one thing I really loved. I went almost 2 years after that without a cat until my dad found Oskar in the alley behind The Columbia in Gastown. I called him my own, the vet estimated his age at 1-2 years and when I really think about it... I like to believe he's the reincarnate of Twine. They are so similar even other people have commented on it. After only two months of owning him I took him to Alberta where, because of the circumstances, he had to stay with strangers for 6 months and I'd only see him once a week, then I had him back for 4 months until I decided to go home. He got out 2 days before I was suppose to leave Alberta and I was drunk and crying because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to leave Alberta, cause I wouldn't leave without him. He is what makes me think that there is something better out there. And when I moved downtown and my roomate(s) let him out countless occasions, like the time I ran home from the Cambie in tears to find him, he always came back. And when I took off to South America for a month I left him with my mom, then she kicked him out and I had no where to live never mind with my cat, my dad took him for 3 months, and now he's back with me where he belongs. And I'm going to go cry myself to sleep with him yet again, these rainstorm migraines are going to kill me.

Yup.
