While doing whatever it is I do, I started thinking, thinking about saving memories.... it seems to me that we as a society are obsessed w/ saving moments, moments of joy, of happiness, of lust, of passion, and even sadness, and depression, anger and hate...

We stockpile these emotions every way possible, so we can replay them back at our convenience, so we can always remember "the moment", and yet if we were to play them all back, we would use up precious amounts of our time - time that could be used to create new moments. So are we just dwelling in the past? Reliving our own lives? Are we scared that we will never experience those moments again, and thus save all our "moments" in a heap of digital files. Or is it a want to have a journal of our own past, as if we were important enough to have one?

I think of the past - the past before digital - well, digital everything; when we couldn't record pictures, video, or even voices. Did our ancestors crave the possibility of re-experiencing moments, or did they just move on, and just keep going, experiencing more and more? Was memory more important then? It would all depend on the individuals ability to remember their own collective moments. I think of their story's, and how they were fluid in nature, and always changing w/ every telling; but now, thats harder to do. We now have definitive proof of how things happened "then." The story's can't grow and shift like they used to.

Is it human nature to want to chronicle your own existence? To want others to acknowledge what they have done, to have your peers see the hardships that you triumphed over, and thus be praised for them....to have them see that you to have experienced things, that you are not a loser, that you have a life... But what is this life compared to others, is that why we do it, to compare.... is it all juxtopositoin of or self... And w/ that, do we compare them to the lives that have come before us, and even the lives to come.... is it all just a battle on an arbitrary ladder???

I don't know the answer... hell, I don't even know why I thought of this... I just did.... and now I'm putting it out there for all to see, for others to judge, critique, or just complain... am I as guilty as everyone else??? Yes.... I write in an blog, I hord hundreds (if not thousands) of pictures of my past, I tell storys of things I've done, and I judge others..... its in my nature...

I think by holding on to our past our future seems less scary, or maybe in a way it makes us feel less scared about our immortality. Is that too heavy for a wed night?

I work at a mens clothing store, and the guys that come in there are so horny we actually have a policy on how to handle sexual harassment from customers. Oh well other than that I actually like my job so it could be a lot worse.
