Im eating organic cheetos right now. Theres something about eating a typical stoner snack food that claims to be organic that just strikes me as very funny.

Anyway! I meant to write an entry on Ephemera Festival, not cheetos. I thought it went really well, but youd have to ask the participants to get a true idea. But from the feedback I heard, everyone had a good (and even profitable) time, so Im satisfied. Heres a review one of the participants posted on his blog.

This was the first time I organized a large event on my own, so I learned an incredible amount from it. For one thing, I will definitely delegate the responsibilities more next year instead of doing it all on my own. Several people offered to help me out next time, and Ill take them up on it. Also, I think Ill take a bit more control (especially over the performances and speakers). My keynote speaker had a good concept to start with, (Zines & Social Justice) but his talk was meandering and vague. But I guess the main thing was that we were all there representing what we believe in, which is the sprit of D.I.Y. The circuit bending workshop was very cool, as was my friend Davids presentation on experimental music and software. My parents and my sister showed up, as well as lot of new and old friends. It was great to see everyone and it made me all fuzzy inside to know I have so much support. Starguitar was an incredible help throughout the day, too setting up the technology and sitting at my table while I ran around like a maniac.

So all in all, it was a great time and a lot of good things came out of it (including an interview in an upcoming issue of Venus) so Im glad I did it. The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, hanging with Starguitar and catching up on schoolwork.

Im listening to Suede. Im amazed at how nostalgic I feel listening to this band now. I bough their first album strictly because of the cover art, and ended up falling in love with it.

I think that was the start of the whole Britpop era for me. Its hard to believe that that is a genre of music that Ive actually seen come and go. Think about it what good Brit bands are there these days? Im talking about ones that are currently making albums. Not too many

Ooh, that reminds me - we got Depeche Mode tickets! biggrin This is very, very exciting for me because Ive liked them pretty much my whole life (or at least it feels like it) and this will be my first time seeing them. And if thats not good enough, The Raveonettes are opening!! This show is going to kick so much ass. (Haha, according to MS Word, I should have typed, This show is going to kick so many asses.) I might get my own ass kicked if I take grammatical advice from this thing.

Anyway, Im gonna edit this to add some pics from the festival when I get home. Time to get back to work
