This summer is getting off to a damn good start. Starguitar got here safe and sound (well after some shenanigans at immigration, but that got straightened out). We both pretty much went straight to work, though. He has his class to prepare for and I have a ton of stuff to do, so no time for going out just yet. But he lives here now we have all the time in the world. 
This weekend is the AMC and Im fucking jazzed. Benjamin, Justin and Marc are coming with me, and Marc is going to be shooting a documentary about zine culture. While Im there Im also going to be interviewed by Friction magazine. Thats right baby Im a zine star.
While were on the subject, I set the date of September 23rd for my own event. Its going to be called Ephemera: A D.I.Y. Zine Fest at DePaul University. Its going to be a celebration of D.I.Y culture in all its forms, and Im hoping to create a great atmosphere where people will hang out, network and share ideas. Right now Im in the process of getting people to secure tables so they can showcase their zines, art, comics and homemade crafts. I still have a lot of planning to do, but its shaping up
Im taking class called Fantasy in Fiction and Film this summer. I knew it was going to be cool when I went to the bookstore and the only required novel was "Harry Potter & the Sorcerers Stone".
The first meeting was yesterday and I was very impressed. Were going to be looking at the work of Joseph Campbell. One of his most popular books is "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" and his ideas about universal mythology were what influenced the Star Wars movies. You guys probably already know this, but its all new to me because (I cant believe Im going to confess this) I have never seen a Star Wars movie before. I know. I have nothing against them; I just didnt grow up watching a lot of TV and movies. So to understand what this class is about I am going to have to finally bite the bullet and watch them. The older ones at least. Besides that, we watched about 45 minutes of the movie The Mouth of Madness which was FREAKY as hell. I think I really like this professor. Its going to be an intensive class (six hours a week for five weeks) but I've always been a closet D&D dork so Im excited.

i've always wanted to..but didnt know what to read and then got caught up reading other stuff
i just bought Lost Souls...but i'm only halfway through Helter Skelter...it's 650 pages!
but hopefully it won't take me too much longer to read...it's interesting/fucked up stuff
i also might not read Lost Souls right away...that clive book i'll make a note of but that might have to wait too..hehe..after helter skelter i think i need something lighter
