Eddie Izzard is redeeming himself via VHS bootlegs for me this week. The incredibly dissappointing (and expensive) performance I saw this winter nearly did irreversable damage. I watched Definite Article this weekend and now I'm watching Live at the Ambassadors - good stuff but far more Brittish than Dress to Kill. By that I guess I mean he's clearly dumbed down his act for American audiences - good call. The references are ALL Brittish, which leaves me feeling dumb a lot. He does a fifteen minute riff on the Daleks from Doctor Who. Woot woot to me for at least getting that. I wish I were European...instead of it just being my heritage...but in a European-before-passing-through-a-depressing-stretch-of-white-trash-hillbilly-roots kinda way.

My sister is coming to visit (on a Tuesday?! - yep) tomorrow.

Beth is coming to visit for my birthday and that whole business is becoming tres mindfuckish.

The painting is done! --or as good as done...practically.

I may start posting my new story here in installments (a serial!) so Kate can read it at work - by request!

Added 20 pages this weekend.

Despite my systematic yet unintentional disconnect from my social life I went out Friday, bumped into people from work, got a hug from Jem (in a Debra Winger Urban Cowboy cowboy hat!) - and yes, had a good time.

Started a painting of Emily Perkins and I love it and want to work on it but can't because I have to finish Andrea's because she's beginning to get impatient.

Marie's period and cloudy skies kept us from taking pictures Friday but when she gets back from NY we'll reschedule for another 1/2-day Friday...I hope.

Aside from going out Friday night I spent the rest of the weekend in complete isolation. I think I'm kinda just starting to head in that direction. Disease or not. I just can't deal with people at all anymore and I don't care as much as I probably should.

Do you ever lose track of what parts of who you are are real and which parts you intentionally manufactured? It's a rhetorical question but, writing about yourself really confuses that.

And now non-readers...reviews:

EURO TRIP
Fairly standard teen comedy that combines elements of American Pie and Road Trip and manages to be funnier than both of them. Two teens set course for Berlin (when one finds that his pen pal is a blonde hottie), bump into some friends and make several European stops along the way. There are lots of gross-outs, sex and nudity but a surprising amount of heart too. Did I say there was a lot of nudity. I meant to if I didn't. **1/2

GINGER SNAPS 2 UNLEASHED
Ginger may be gone but Bridgette is still infected with her sister's werewolf curse. When she's mistaken for a strung-out teen she ends up in a teen girl drug clinic and separated from her wolf-supressing home remedy. It's Girl, Interrupted meets The Fly - which might not be for everyone but it pushes my buttons. Emily Perkins stays true to her character and the original's tone and carries the movie with ease. Should be as well loved as the original because it's equally as fun. There's a killer opening credits sequence, lots of stylish cinematography, Canadian accents and an all-girl group-masturbation dream sequence that brings the house down. The werewolf looks a helluva lot better too. The down-beat ending is a great suprise but kind of a bummer. ***
