Of all the gatherings in the world I'd like to attend but can't, none tops my list quite so much as my funeral. Morbid you say? HA! Listen to what I have to say.

Okay okay, funerals do suck for the obvious reasons. But....

Think of it, with some planning, you can create a moment when everyone around you knows who you really are. For what people say about you and what you may have wanted to convey to people through whatever means. Audio, Video, Song...

For me, I look at my funeral as an amazing opportunity to make those who I felt misunderstood me to properly take in the essense of who I am. The avenue for me would probably be an hour of very carefully selected music. Why would I want to be there? Well, I'm facinated at what peoples reactions would be. I'm equally facinated at who would be there, ie. which faces from my past would present. They say that in times of crisis, you really know who your friends are. I'd say at your funeral you really know who your friends are. Can you imagine how emotional you would get if you had a chance to hear what people said about you in eulogies? Of course it would be somber......but incrediblely intriguing.

Within our lives, certain individuals mean so much to us. And in the context of a funeral, you'd like to think that said individuals would be able to convey to those in attendance who you really were. I don't think many of us are as straight forward as we appear. For me, my friend Ryan I think would be able to talk about amazing moments him and I shared. About tragic moments we've shared. About fritghening moments we've shared.

Of all the stories in life you'd like to finish well, your own should really top of the list. Do you have control over that? Who really knows. But how fucking amazing would it be if you could have an understanding of what your funeral might be like so that when you do go to join the earth worms, your mind is just a bit more at ease.

Oh, and btw, merry blah blah.

I'm droppin away for a bit....later all.

That's amazing! I'd never thought over a funeral that way... I have always told people I don't want them to be sad and somber but to have an Irish wake full of booze and good times.

If you want you can always have wake but that's not the same thing... kiss

pica_pica:
that book I was reading a few months ago suggested you do that very thing.
Picture your own funeral, and then imagine what your eulogies would be like from
1. a friend
2. a work mate
3. a family member or loved one
4. a member of the community.

all under the plan of making you understand more consciously the gravity of your daily actions.
"Start with the end in sight" meaning try to see the big picture before you take on any action.

Kinda a moral lesson I guess, but fuck.. it sure works.
