Sunday in Fort Mac - slept in due to a hangover, got coffee at Tim's and made my way down to a park on the northwest corner of bustling downtown Fort McMurray. It really does bustle, but not on a Sunday morning. As I'm driving towards the long laneway to the park I see a black bear cross the road in front of me. A...

Leaning forward, knees buckling, soles of my shoes slip off the edge; and I'm falling. The acceleration drives my stomach to my throat, wind rips through my hair, tears streak my face, the tower is a blur beside me, the ground grows to meet me, I reach out to touch it. And then-.

Fort Mac Attack!!

So I called up a friend of a friend here in Fort Mac, and after dinner at the Newfie Seafood Place (Cod Au Gratin just 'cause they were out of Arctic Char and Hollandaise, and Alligator as an appetizer, just 'cause), we hit the Oil Can. The Oil Can, sounds exitic, right? It's attached to a strip joint whose marque promises 4...

Holy shit - I just got redeployed to Fort MacMurray. Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean... I've been looking to get redeployed to a new assignment during the strike at work, because I want a piece of the huge overtime they're paying out to redeployed managers. So now I got my assignment - driving around looking for vandalism to company facilities in Fort Mac. Damn,...

I made this for my friends tonight:

Special-Ks Eggplant Parmigiana

A whole lotta salt
1/4 cup olive oil
several cloves of garlic
2 medium eggplants, in 1 inch slices
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
200 g (6 oz) mozzarella cheese
A jar of good tomato sauce (I recommend 4 cheese)

An hour before cooking, slice the eggplant, heavily...

Had a bbq with my longest friends here in Edmonton. Their 3 year old is so much fun. He has one of those little Ikea kid chairs that's like a pod with a cover that pulls down in front. I want a grown up version of one for my office at work, then when I can't face the world I can just pull the cover...

it's good to lay low sometimes. playing with a little one can be one of the most feeing & grounding thing to do. they are so open to everything, even 80's/90's music ( I love that song & sing it often ).

they say that you will never find who you need when you're always looking. in my experience it tends to be true. at the same time, though, you can't give up. there's no winning really...

So, I've got this heavy scab on my knee from soccer. Yesterday I'm standing talking to someone and I feel this constant little pain there, not unusual for my sore but this just didn't go away. Finally I looked down and there was a bee, a yellowjacket to be precise, face down chewing on the thing. The little bugger bore a hole right into it...

Oh, a flash of lightning out my window -- I love thunder storms.

I've added a new set to my pics, called Apocalyptic Beauty, it's a series of petrochemical plants I took on the coldest night of the year this winter, in Fort Saskatchewan. The cold temperatures meant huge plumes of steam formed over these plants. I'm even trying a little poetry with it to...

Arrrrrrggghhh!! I'm seething. I come into work at 7 am today, this day I'm supposed to be in Toronto for my dear friend's wedding, and fuck around all morning, then take a couple of online courses I've already taken in my spare time. Then they send us home because the db system is down and they can't give a course on it. A complete waste...

Milton's actually turned into quite the Mississauga, almost, over the last couple of years. Scratch that...more like an Oakville. It's not as terrifying as 'Sauga. Yet.

Subdivisions going up everywhere. Not fun.

What the hell did you do in the parking lot of the M-dot mall?? It still sucks. But they are expanding it.

Hornby makes me think of ice cream from their general store. And their cheap golf course. smile

Happiness is lying naked in bed with a Jack and ice and the Suicide Girls.

Sadness is calling my sweetest friend Dana, my sister Dana, with whom I've shared so much pain and love, and tell her I can't be at her wedding this Saturday. I have my flight booked to Toronto, my hotel room's reserved (shit, have to cancel that) for Saturday night, and...

Yes Andvari, you're right. I just don't say it out loud. I 'm going to edit this whole post 'cause being so public and the things I talk about could actually get me fired here. They have policies about maintaining their values, I don't know where the line is but I'm pretty sure I'm over it.

I don't mind working here now since I've figured out how much I'll be making for the next while.
