Sunday in Fort Mac - slept in due to a hangover, got coffee at Tim's and made my way down to a park on the northwest corner of bustling downtown Fort McMurray. It really does bustle, but not on a Sunday morning. As I'm driving towards the long laneway to the park I see a black bear cross the road in front of me. A fox came out of the woods right behind him/her and crossed the road too, then stood at the edge of the woods and stared at the bear. I don't think the fox could believe it either. A pick-up came down the lane towards me, and the fox scrambled away. There were three guys that looked sketched out from the night before in it, and I waved them down and told them about the bear and the fox, they were suitably amazed (and a little fucked up). Then the driver asked if I smoked and offered to sell me a j for gas money. I got a dime, did my rounds, then drove down to the river to enjoy the sun, smoked a J, sketched and took pictures. Fort McMurray is beginning to grow on me.
