Text book horror idea: Every great horror movie starts out with a trip to somewhere unknown. My friends and I decided to go on a camping trip to Mount Monadnoc. We piled into our 1965 vw kombi bus and made our why to the camp. It was off season so that we didn't expect to see a lot of people, which was good because we wanted to cut loose, swim naked in the river, and to get buzzed around the camp fire. Everything was great. There were two girls and three guys. Alex and Sarah were an item. They were either fighting of deeply in love. Pete was a motor head that owned the vw. Vicki was a flirt but hid her depression by taking large doses of prozac. And myself, Dave, who enjoys long walks on the beach and whatever. We made it to the camp site all right. We thought we had a stroke of luck when there was nobody at the gate to check us in. So we kept driving and planned to act stupid if we got caught. We found a great site near the river. Instantly, Alex and Sarah take off to go swimming. That left Vicki, Pete, and myself to set up camp. Both Pete and myself had a crush on Vicki so we were always making comments and trying to feel out who she might want to sleep with that night. Vicki took it upon herself to start cooking. Pete set up some tents. And I went to collect some wood for the fire.
As I walked around I found that there were other camp sites left unattended. I looked around to see if anyone was watching and grabbed a bag of marshmallows and quick stepped out of the site to continue my search for kindling. I thought I saw a ranger watching me from the woods so I played it cool and just kept on walking. He didn't seem to mind too much because he just stood there as I continued back to the camp. When I got back I found Vicki and Pete arguing about movies. She loved the Goonies and Pete kept telling her that it was impossible for those pirates to built a secret cove with booby traps make out of rock.
Alex and Sarah were having a great time at the river. You know all that good stuff that makes a G movie an R rated film. It always helps to have a little frontal nudity in a horror film. They get a little giggly and notice figures walking in the woods in different directions. They didn't feel like putting on show so they swam back to shore at suited up to make their way back to camp. By this time I had the fire going and dinner was just about ready. Pete thought it would be a good idea to smoke up before we ate. Alex and Sarah didn't care for this too much but definitely started in to the rum. I was on vacation and didn't think it would hurt to recapture my past a little.
The food was great. The sun was going down and the drinking continued. We started to tell ghost stories. Then Sarah asked if anyone of us had seen anybody. I told her about the ranger but he seemed kind of weird. Of coarse we were all slurring our speech by this time and feeling the effects. Then Pete started to make a move on Vicki but Vicki didn't want anything to do with him. They had a bit of a fight and we could all feel the tension. In fact, Alex and I had to break them up from throwing stuff and making a mess. Vicki was pissed and went straight to the van and locked it. However I heard something during the fight that made me a little more wary. I swore I heard Pete call Vicki a bitch but when he did I didn't see his lips move. I had to clear my head and went to my tent. Alex, Sarah, and Pete argued a bit more and I think I passed out.
The camera then closes in on the van. Vicki cursing under her breath tries to make a bed in the back of Pete's dirty bus. She sees something at the window looking in but it was a little too far from sight to make out. There's something out there! She unlocks the door and runs to my tent having great difficulty with the zipper. "Crap! What the fuck's going on?"
"Wake up, Dave! Dave! Come on! Wake up!"
"Damn girl. What's the matter?"
"There's something out there..."
By this time the fire has burned down a bit. I had to play it tough and I knew that Pete kept a gun under his seat. I stuck my head out and looked in to the quiet forest. No bug noises. No breeze. Even the trees seemed to know something. I stepped out in to the camp site and made my way to the van. Pete was laying on the dirt and looked like he was sleeping. The only strange part was he was completely wet. "Jack ass." I made my way to the van and grabbed the gun. I made sure it was loaded and hurried back to the tent. Vicki was inside terrified. I told her to help me get the fire back up. I then walked over to Sarah and Alex's tent to get some help and found that they were missing. "Great. Just great."
I started to hear things again. I could hear Pete laying on the ground thinking about being smothered. And I heard Vicki saying, "Please god. Please god." And where the fuck were Alex and Sarah? The strange part was that I couldn't see anyone talking. I kept trying to tell myself that there was a rational explanation. Then I heard a scream! It sounded like Sarah. Vicki was livid. "Damn it! What the fucks going on?"
This is where the special effects kick in. I tell vicki to come with me. We run in the dark forest towards the sound of the scream. When we get there we find empty shells of their bodies. I know what I'm looking at but I can't believe what I'm seeing. Vicki goes hysterical. "Shit! Let's get the fuck out of hear!" I grab her by the arm and start making my way back to the bus. Then we see Pete convulsing on the ground. His body was limp but yet it moved around. Something inside him was tearing is way out of his body. It was a strange exoskeleton that faded in and out of the visual spectrum. Then it crawled out and disappeared. I didn't know. Vicki was screaming and I shot in the direction of the body. With the piecing sound of the gun ringing in my ears I grabbed Vicki and threw her over my back. I jumped towards the empty shell that used to be Pete and put my hand in a body pocket to get the keys. Vicki was passed out by now. I laid her down in the van, got in, and locked the door. I jumped over the seat and started it up. It actually started! I was running on auto pilot. I threw it in to reverse and started to drive us out of the woods. The sun was coming up. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a reflection of the Ranger standing in the road. I heard him say in my thoughts, "Are you ready?"

Yeah - if figured there was an alien kinda thing going on in your story. I'm a complete Sci-fi geek too. Started going to sci-fi conventions when i was like 10.
