When do words loose their meaning?
I know what you are thinking words don't loose their meaning silly boy. If you read a written word now and 100 years from now it'll mean the same thing....but does it really? How many times can you hear the phase "You're beautiful" before it looses it's meaning? 10, 100,maybe 1000times. When does something that made you feel so special cease to have importance? Words are meant to stir the mind, move the heart and resound in the soul, if they no longer serve that purpose then, what are they but meaningless babble. Maybe words operate using supply and demand. Maybe as the supply increases the demand begins to decrease...if that is the case. Then what is a word worth? What is the exchange rate on "I love you"? Does it mean more in Japanese then it does in English? How many "I love you"s in French does it take to equal 1 in italian? Does it mean as much If I'm the first to say it, or the tenth? If I told you I love you everyday when does it no longer matter. If I named the the most beautiful woman in the world every morning..how long before you cease to believe? Does the pimple on your nose make you ugly?Does it mark me a liar, or foolish?...Or does it mean that I still see something that you have lost sight of?.....Or does it truly mean that I am dealing in useless tender, and the words truly mean nothing anymore?

I know what you mean. Me and my boyfriend have had this discussion many, many times. He won't say "I love you" every day, because he doesn't want it to lose it's meaning. He doesn't want it to turn into an ordinary phrase. Something that is automatic at the end of a phone conversation, or something that has to be said every time one of us is leaving the room, or the house, or the state. It shouldn't be something that you say even when you're just treading water, it should be something that saves you from drowning.
Something extraordinary said every day until it loses meaning, becomes something ordinary. Something once holding up the bottom of an iceberg of a million un-said things, now becomes the punctuation at the end of a sentence. It no longer means everything you mean to me, everything I wish I could say to you all in three little words, it's just something we say to pass the time...
