Our tale starts over a month ago in the sleepy little town of Glasgow. After a long days work our hero Barry came home, pa led his rucksack and with a group of like minded adventurers headed to the far away land of lithuainia for a ritual called "the party of stagg"...
In reality it was a group of 17 guys going off to a foreign country to get drunk and the trip went kind of like this
Got to the meetup house at 10pm, drank
Bus picks us up at 4am, drank on bus
Arrive at airport standard 2 hours before flight, drank in airport pub
Got on plane, napped
Plane arrives 45 mins early, change money, drink at bar while waiting for bus
Bus arrives and takes us to hotel, drop off gear, freshen up, back to drinking
Have traditional lithuainian meal
Go to pub, drank
Go to club, drank and got ripped off by barman
Return to hotel, late, sleep
I got up early so I wandered round the area for a bit before heading back to the hotel to catch the rest of them to drink some more
Stretched limo arrives to take is to the Capitol
Onthe limo we drink some more but this time in the company of 2 strippers
Arrive at the next hotel, drop off gear, out for a few drinks and then back for a nap
My nap lasted 12 hours
Which probably saved me from spending a shit load at the strippers they all went to. A small blessing
Up early, wandered
Went to the firing range, shot guns*
Back into town and onto.... The beer bike
peddled around town drinking beer**
then off for a steak dinner .... At the strip joint***
Out once more to a pub (we where fading by this point)
Next morning another limo, more drink, more strippers
Arrive at airport, drink
On plane drink
Touch down, to the bar
Bus back to Glasgow, no drink
Off the bus and straight into the flying duck
"she's came all the way from Edinburgh to be here"
"that's nothing, I came all the way from lithuainia"
The following Thursday was the wedding. To me the whole affair was me saying goodbye. Events over the last year have changed Matt and i's relationship and it saddens me to know that that will probably be the last time that Matt and I spend anytime together.
The next day Sara and I went to Eden test and spent 3 days gettin drunk in a field and I shall leave it there for the moment. More to come, including getting challenged to a fight in a rabbit costume
*having never shot a gun before this was quite a perception altering experience for me. I now have a new found respect/fear of guns. Regardless of what tv or video game portray it's scary just how easy it would be to use some of these things to end a human life.
**the beer bike for those of you who wish to know is this fiendish contraption,
http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=beer+bike&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&ei=IcGsTM2JKceQjAfW1P3VBw
which forces to to peddle round the streets while someone serves you beer. Now you may think this is a brilliant idea and you may be right if not for the fact that the beer in lithuainia is rubbish and it was blaring the same 5 crappy pop songs in a loop (if I never hear "it's Chico time" again I will be a happy man)
*** it was a damn good steak
