Every now and then, I come here for help.

SG provided.

Thank you

My Theories of Text and Culture essay (3000 words) due last Friday, 23 May, is still incomplete. I've sent an apology email, and an unconventionally late application for an extension. We'll see how that goes. My News Journalism assessment (news story and critique) due last Friday, 23 May, is still incomplete. After trying to pull out of the unit, my tutor granted an extension to tomorrow, provided that I workshop it with her today. I don't know what workshopping is, but if it's anything like the lies I've been telling her on the phone for the last few months, it's a lot of effort and requires more memory than I have. Either way I'll be getting a crash course on it in approx. 1hr, 30mins.

*edit*
Extensions granted. Thank fuck.

And I found the lead for my News Journalism assessment:

N.B. The Northern Territory is not a STATE
N.B. Active Voice

*headdesk*

LEAD: "The Northern Territory government has agreed to Australian Government measures proposed to stabilise and protect Aboriginal Children against abuse but Aboriginal groups have opposed elements of the strategy."

Here's an excerpt from the 2,600 words I wrote yesterday ... TheFuckOffKid.. you might want to close your eyes.

Theories of Text and Culture

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Michel Foucault, in his paper 'What is an Author?' Joseph V Harari (trans) in David Lodge (ed) Modern Criticism and Theory: a reader, allows one to see the relationship between the novels Orpheus Lost and The Secret River and their authors Janet Turner-Hospital and Kate Grenville respectively. Foucault has suggested that an author maintains certain functions in the creation of a text, with their subjective therefore becoming interconnected with their work. Foucault suggests, in relation to the author and the text as one 'fundamental unit,' that "[t]he coming into being of the notion of 'author' constitutes the privileged moment of individualisation in the history of ideas, knowledge, literature, philosophy, and the sciences" (1969, pp. 197.)

A function of the author which Foucault discusses in this paper concerns an author's 'ownership' of a text. Turner-Hospital, through Orpheus Lost, owns the position from which she writes and in doing so is in consequence to the ramifications and punishment provided by the ownership of her text. By tracing the owned position of Turner-Hospital, a reader can decipher and trace the socio-cultural impact which has influenced the creation of her novel. Whiteness as a discourse blankets over this author's position as she writes from her position in White literature, in a White society, and as a White person. From this socio-cultural position, Turner-Hospital writes about the life of a character that has been 'othered' by Whiteness: a Muslim man.

Lighter Things!
It's been fun showing everyone my butt for the last week, people have tried to censor my butt-showing in the past, but I have a reason now ... ahahahah!

Also, I've been offered a series of piercings for $30 incl. jewelery. I've decided (to my surprise) not to get any facial piercings. Thinking about going belly button, are belly button piercings hot? They've always seemed like a bit of a cop-out to me. Which is just my opinion, and completely reigning true right now, considering I'm 'falling back' on it because I don't particularly want anything else. I know that I definitely want to get my top ear done. Maybe three little studs, with spikes on the back, on one side, and then two rings on the other. I love my unbalanced balance. That's a lot of money ... I wonder if I could get it cheaper if I buy in bulk..? biggrin I know that I'm definitely going to get my nipples pierced, there's not much hotter than that in my books. Side ways, on both sides.

Body Mods rain they pour, eh?

Looking forward to working full time in the uni break in June/July to get some cash for the colouring, the ball, and generally living higher than the poverty line.

You just sort of learn where to keep it."
