It's my mom's birthday. She's spending it in the hospital with my grandfather (he went in for yet another surgery yesterday, and surprise surprise the inept doctors were unsucessful once again, and once again his health and mobility have been taken down a peg for no reason). So I just got a phone call from my dad yelling at me for not calling her. For having the nerve to not call her on her birthday, which she's spending in the hospital. OK. So.

  • I didn't know she was spending the night at the hospital, when I spoke to her yesterday she made it sound like things were fine.

  • 2) It's 9:30. I usually call my mom around 10 because ordinarily that's late enough for me to be sure she's home from the hospital/nursing home and can actually take my call and talk for a bit.

Obviously if I knew of the situation I would have called earlier. But as usual when things happen I'm left out of the loop, and then yelled at for not being informed. For most of today I was feeling mopey and nearly home sick, but after this 2 minute convo with my dad I'm so happy to be 400 miles west of his shitheaded attitudes. I do wish I was home for my mom's birthday though. She's taken so much shit these last 5 months, she deserves to have a good day today.

In other news, I am finally getting a new vehicle. No, for real this time. Seriously. OK, so not until December/January, but still. It's certain. Ryan's buying our friend Jon's 97 Pontiac convertable, so as soon as the Buick is fixed up it's mine. I cannot wait. Not only because I've missed not being able to go anywhere, but because I plain old love that car. I love it. The interior is so comfortable and it handles incredibly well (at least when compared to my hellish old 93 Plymouth Voyager), and it's just a lovely looking car.

Other than that life is sortof wavering between bad and ok.
