OMG I've had a buttfull of know-it-all "animal lovers." I am in that group, you see. I have these two weener dogs my mom bought a long time ago. One is 11, the other is 9. The oldest one smells really bad all the time. We bathe her, and three days later she smells horrible again. Also, her breath has always been terrible, and recently I noticed one of her teeth has come out. Now I'm sorry if I'm not one of those people who checks my dog's mouth every week for anything wrong. I might be, if I knew it would help. Unfortunately, I don't have a job anymore, and the dog isn't my responsibility finacially. If I had money, I'd take her to the vet, but I don't and that's all there is to it. My mom is stubborn and refuses to pay $50 just so a vet can look at her teeth and tell us to buy minty milk bones and brush her teeth with toothpaste that costs $30 a tube. In a way I don't half blame her, but then again, I love my dogs and for the most part, I think of them as human (or better at times).
So anyway, I ask the people in the group for help, knowing that taking her to the vet is out of the question, and all I get is Neyrissa telling me what a horrible pet owner I am, asking me why I bought a dog I can't afford. Here's something she should know. I was 8 fucking years old when we got that dog. I didn't buy her, or the other one. I have no control over whether or not that dog sees a vet. I don't need people telling me I'm making my dog suffer when all I wanted was any advice they could give me that I could use at home. But instead, I get told I shouldn't own animals. I'm fucking sick of animal experts, especially horse people, but all animal people in general. They just don't get it sometimes. What does Neyrissa expect me to do? Steal a hundred out of my mom's purse, sneak my dog to the vet, and buy her the special toothpaste? Her teeth don't seem to be hurting her. One fell out, but she eats fine and never shows any signs of pain in her mouth. And even if she did, I am pretty sure I couldn't get mom to do anything about it (believe me I've tried to get her to take them to the vet many many times). Anyways that's me bitching. I thought I was going to have a nice evening, but no. Snobby people always ruin things for me.

On another board I used to be on (not SG)there was this topic: "What offends you?" and someone said "animal abuse, and that's pretty much it" and then someone said "umm..what about child abuse??" and then the animal rights chick felt kinda stupid. People mean well, but they get thier priorites mixed up sometimes.
