Jesus... I'm so very tired. I was gonna write today the usual rant about promoters and shitty venues, but it doesn't really seem appropriate anymore. Promoters=wank, Murdoc=awesome rockin professionals, nuff said!
So as i staggered back home this morning, cowboy hat limp, eyeliner running down my face i'm confronted with the news that London has been torn apart by terrorists, and suddenly i'm humbled, drained, deflated. The worst thing, i think is that we knew this was coming, it was only a matter of time and there are so many reasons why it could have happened; Al Queida(?), G8, French olympic extremists, all of a sudden i look around and see the world burning. My thoughts are with everyone in London, i'm glad to see most members have checked in. We become aenethetised(sp?) to attrocity when it surrounds us on the news, masqurading as entertainment or it infects us slowly, sneaking into our brains, til all we know is paranoia and fear, before we know it we can't trust anyone, strangers are people to be avoided the world becomes a hostile place and we concentrate on cocooning ourselves within our little bubbles, isolated, unable to connect, unable to trust, unable to live.
Fuck it, i'm gonna go out on a limb here... you want someone to blame? blame the media, blame religion, blame evolution.
1) The media has discovered that horrific stories are far more popular than fluffy lovely ones therefore they sell more papers, get more viewers whatever. So they go out of their way find and report these stories, therefore people (who's world view is shaped by the press) believe that the world is about to end so they'd better get tooled up and lynch someone.
2)Ah, my favourite... religion, can anyone name one single war/conflict that hasn't involved religion? this kinda ties in with 3) i appreciate that humanity has needed religion, belief, faith and that without it we'd probably still be living in caves screaming at the things in the shadows, but it seems to me, surely we've outgrown it by now? as humans we are evolving, progressing, i think we are a generation (amongst many) confused by our independence and stifled by the dregs of organised religion that complicate our beliefs. One day soon we will evolve through it, when we're strong enough...
We are changing, society, humanity, you can see it in the way people are starting to think for themselves, it's just gonna take time, one person at a time, one more genetic freak born everyday with an increased sense of responsibility, compassion and the desire to make a difference.
Love and trust
