Yay its finally christmas, or more specifically the time I actually get to spend with my family, that is the only thing worth of any value in this blasted holiday, not to mention the very appreaciated almost 2 weeks from the hellhoe called the job.

I have read it, but I read it on the plane to Europe on my vacation in 2003. It has been a while and I don't have my copy of the book here. My ability to discuss it in depth will be somewhat limited as a result. Still, I think it is a good book and I can get it out of storage if you want feedback and all that jazz.

That sounds like a positive move for the CPC. I definitely think the far-Left could use more female members. I led a discussion on Marx for a number of hours in our university's philosophy club on Tuesday, which a few of the local feminists attended. They know I am available for discussions and I can offer Marxist analysis of issues if they need it. Otherwise, I don't try to push any views on them. I just participate in the group and discussions and if they are impressed, then they can pursue the topic further. Most seem to be pretty anti-capitalist already though.

I am actually a member of the CPUSA because Trotskyist parties in the US have no weight, no strong personalities, and are even more obscure than the traditional Communist Party.

I also disagreed with the CPUSA policy of voting for Kerry. Their rationale was that the working class needs to respect that conservative legislature does need to be opposed. Unfortunately, they did not field a candidate and the Socialist Party candidate (Walt Brown) was not a certified write-in in about 46 states. This gave little opportunity to offer any sort of alternative.

On the plus side, though, the CPUSA did gain a lot of younger membership in the past four years. I think the general direction in which the Party is going is towards improvement. This leads me to be less harsh on them than I otherwise might be.
