Well, we need investment, true. But foreign ownership just doesn't float my boat. And this whole 'compete with Chelsea' doesn't really ring true either. I don't want to be like Chavski, or Man Ure or West Humdrum. I'm pretty sick of all the money at the top of the Prem. And I'm sick that tickets have gone up a ridiculous amount again. I haven't been able to get to a game all season, which is the first time that's happened in about 7 years.
To be honest, I'm looking forward to Sepp Blatter's limited foreign player policy. As much as I love and adore our boys, I think the influx of foreign money has taken the game away from what it was supposed to be and the money has made the prem ridiculous. Chavski have never really been taken seriously because of their money. 2nd is the new first. Next season 3rd will be the new first. People are simply discounting them because their titles are bought. I don't want to be part of that.
Anfield does need redevelopment, but there was local money ready to step up. It wasn't ideal, but I don't think it was ever given serious consideration. I'm actually turning away from the idea of a new stadium because I think there is scope to develop Anfield - there is plenty of empty housing there that can and should be knocked down to expand the main stand and the paddock. And Anfield Road end could easily be made bigger.
Don't get me wrong, we need to develop and do something, but I don't think chasing our tails trying to catch that fucker at Chavski is the way forward. I hate that they're dictating the pace of football off the pitch.
