These questions plague me. Before Answering Please consider the following.
*Gimli may be small but this gives him a lower centre of gravity, That said, Hagrid must weigh 500lbs.
*The axe - would it be allowed.
*Would the Hippogriff intervene?
*Gimli has seen war. Would Hagrids relative comfort make him too placid?
*If the friends did step in. Frodo v Harry. Sam v Ron. I want results people.
I have too much work to do to calculate the most likely victor so you lot can do it for me!
