Wow, had pretty much the most amazing shit go down the other day...
This girl in my math class came up to me and said she needed to talk to me. We bullshit almost every time in class and do the group work together also. Anyways, she was really upset and began to explain to me about how she was at this party last week and a dude groped her. It was really upsetting for her and she didn't know what to do.
We talked it over and I referred her to the women's resource center on campus and gave her some pamphlets on the women's crisis hotline. I also gave her the statute information so she could file charges. She called the police and the situation is handled. The creep who groped her called and apologized, just as the cop ordered him to do.
She called me up crying thanking me so much for all I did. That felt awesome. When I saw her in class today, she tackled me with a hug and couldn't stop thanking me again. Before when we chatted, it was a casual 'hey' but this time she seems genuinely happy to see me. That matters not; it was just awesome that I could help her. That made my day and reminds me why I like working in emergency services. Good stuff.
