Spent way too much on graphic novels at the Comic Store today...got a mini-bookshelf full.
Lots to absorb. That also means I should get cooking on some comics - as in drawing them, that is!
Todays vices: Jack Kirby, Will Eisner, Moebius and believe it or not John Stanley Little Lulu...
The song titles for Historicals are starting to come...for me the title of a...

I went to the comic shop a few weeks ago and was surprised to find a new Concrete series starting and a Geoff Darrow book called "Shaolin Cowboy." The Darrow book has a panel that is 10 pages long and I love it to death--you turn the page and it just keeps going--you turn again and it just keeps going . . .
Go figure, I had my team from work come over for coctails and got the shits. So my wife had to entertain 'em. One guy from work bought me a very rare Doctor Who model of Patrick Troughton (the 2nd Doctor). And also built a model of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Which I put on my shelf.
Now I'm in the doghouse a little...

Return to Oz was largely based off of Ozma of Oz, one reason it was in my favourites. That's where the Queen with the multiple heads shows up.
The was also another book, The Marvelous Land of Oz I believe it was called, that was the inspiration for a televised production that my parents taped for me when I was a child, and I used to love it. That's a splendid book too.

Just hired two new people at work, excellent people both, and finding that I'm enjoying my job of late! Go figure! Though I'm going to have to take a trip to Virginia in 3 weeks, and shortly after that off to Houston Texas.

Of the Oz books I liked "The Patchwork girl of Oz, and Ozma of Oz" the best. Runners up were "Rinkitink of Oz, and Tik-tok of Oz."
If you're going to read them though, I recommend in chronological order, because if you read one of the later ones first there are alot of characters that you won't know, because L. Frank Baum kept adding new ones every book. They are quick reads though, under 200 pages, for the most part.
I haven't picked up any of the ones written after L. Frank Baum. He wrote 14, then someone wrote another 16 or so after him, maybe a relative of his or something. I can't remember. Always see them in the used book store, and they sound good, but I don't know if I'm up for another 16 books by someone else. So yeah. There are my two cents.

Holiday went well, gave and received many objects!
Going to IKEA today to get some more furniture for the HOUSE OF ORANGE.
Can you believe that I was given a Cruise for me and my wife (part of a business trip) and had to turn it down because she couldn't get off work? Actually, it pains her the most, because she is the one who...

Have a fabulous new year...glad to here things are going well after the move.
Unfortunately, I've come to the realization that all the bands I've been associated with in the past have kinda died!!
I'm going to have to start from scratch, and it's going to be scritchy scratchy indeed. Percussion first ; there's a guy at work who is a very solid drummer - graduated from music school years ago, and hasn't played in a while. I heard...

More and final shopping today. Finished!
Strangely, not a madhouse in the stores.
Couldn't resist a selfish gift for myself - the Firey Furnaces album Blueberry Boat.
Furman is making a Fame Box 2. Really gotta concentrate on those historicals. Hard to concentrate with Holiday Hangnails on every festive finger.

Very much so... it boggles the mind and saddens me greatly to see so many people go out of their way to say something supportive to me and tell me how fucked they think things are, yet not say a word of protest. I'm used to being around people who'd stand up for their friends.
Thanks... I wish there were more people like you on this site.

I should really be using this journal to document my reemergence from the cave.
Lord Claude may be stopping by this weekend. He marries in July. Hot and saucy. Says the Commodore won't move his drums from his basement. Sensitive about his stuff.
Offered Mr Howell a show in the Impromtu Orange Gallery. Hopefully he'll take me up on it - would like to see...

Whew, finally got internet access again! Getting my new house in order has been quite a task, absorbing the lion's share of my active time and brain.
Think I will use this journal now to document my projects and keep on top of them. First comes an infamous list of the projects on my slate.
1) Historical Boxes
