The voyage begins and Columbus is immediately stricken with seasickness. So is Herbie! But theyre distracted from their condition when the Portuguese navy attacks them. Catching their cannonballs, Herbie walks up into the sky, then suddenly drops himself like a human bomb, crashing right through the Portuguese ships deck, sinking it.

Then, while walking across the oceans surface to return to Columbus, Herbie sashays past a very familiar-looking mermaid! Next, the three ships become constricted by the coils of a giant sea serpent that looks like a cousin of cartoonist Bob Clampetts Cecil The Seasick Sea Serpent. But when the monster takes a single look at Herbie, it faints dead away! But just when they think their troubles are behind them, a new disaster arises:


HERBIE POPNECKER:
See? Told you nothing to be afraid of.
CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS:
SH-HHHH! Whats-a that noise like-a big roar?

SFX:
ROARR-RRRRR

CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS:
All-a your talk about world being round! Its FLAT, just like-a I tole you AND WE GO OFF-A THE END! I TOLE YOU AND I TOLE YOU AND I TOLE YOU!

As the NINA, the PINTA and the SANTA MARIA are swept over the brink of oblivion, Herbie grabs a rope that connects them and starts swimming upstream like mad. He manages to rescue Columbus and his three ships, but their cargo of lollipopelleros go flying off into the void.
