The Rich Invention Center is in chaos. First, an explosion rocks Professor Keenbeans lab. When Richie asks him to fix his atomic powered transistor radio, it falls apart. Then, after Professor Keenbean reassembles it in his togetherer machine, it broadcasts radio transmissions 24 hours late! Elsewhere, Mr. Richs money vaults refuse to stay closed, and when Professor Keenbean tries to invent hissless steam, he winds up with red-hot ice cubes! Later, Richie shocked to see scientists fleeing the Rich Invention Center, claiming the place is haunted!
While Professor Keenbean and his staff evacuate the Rich Invention Center, other technological mishaps run rampant around the Rich estate. A lawnmower runs rampant. Irona the robot maid goes haywire. Chef Pierres refrigerator begins to heat food rather than cool it. One of the mansions elevators moves sideways, ejecting Mr. Rich sprawled onto the floor. While investigating these strange events, Richie notices that Professor Keenbean has been rubbing his new hair-growing formula onto his scalp. Richie borrows a bottle of the stuff, takes it outside, and tests it on a weed -- which it instantly disintegrates! When Richie reveals this to the inventor, Professor Keenbean realizes that the stuff has been affecting his brain, altering his thinking so that he made the Centers central machine control cause the estates machines to malfunction. Once this is determined, Mr. Rich wants to dispose of the hair-grower, but Richie has a better idea market it as commercial weed-killer!
