This is our message: Enough! Not One Red Cent for War in Iraq and Iran!

We think spending any more money on warmaking is wrong and dangerous.
We want to support our troops by bringing them home ASAP.

We suggest this action:
Send one (symbolically bloody) red penny in an envelope or taped to a postcard to:

NANCY PELOSI

450 Golden Gate Ave. 14th Floor
San Francisco CA 94102
AND/OR

LAURA BUSH
Prairie Chapel Ranch
Crawford TX 76638

Write your own message, or simply make a copy of our attached logo.

We urge everyone to do this every day or as frequently as possible.
We also urge you to spread the idea for this action far and wide.
Our hope is that these two women will be inundated with reminders of the bloodshed they are tolerating. We want them or their staffs to see so many red pennies that they have nightmares about them.

Why Nancy Pelosi?
She is the House Minority Leader and she could organize her party to oppose the latest $80 billion appropriations request for the Iraq war.
Why Laura Bush?
She has the president's ear on a daily basis. She needs to hear how strongly and deeply mothers, fathers, and children across the world oppose what her husband is doing.

Some of you may feel a red penny doesn't say enough. Feel free to include whatever letters you want with the pennies. But send a penny to one or both of these mothers--every day--and get everyone you know to do the same.

Red paint works best. Crayon and most marking pens wear off, but they're acceptable.

John F. Burns New York Times
BAGHDAD, Iraq, Jan. 26 - Thirty marines and one sailor died today when a transport helicopter crashed in the desert in western Iraq, the United States military said today.
The death toll is the largest single loss of life for the American military in one incident since the Iraq war started 22 months ago. Combined with six combat-related deaths, today was the costliest day in the war in terms of loss of American troops.

Kennedy Calls for Troop Withdrawal in Iraq 1/27/05
Lolita C. Baldor, The Associated Press
Washington - The American military's continued presence in Iraq is fanning the flames of conflict, and signals the need for a new detailed timeline to bring the troops home, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy said Thursday....While not the first member of Congress to call for a withdrawal of the troops, Kennedy is the first senator to do so..... Administration officials have so far declined to discuss a timeline for troop withdrawal, saying the goal is to ensure the Iraqis are capable of maintaining their own security before military forces are scaled back.
