So, obviously, if I'm doing Bauhaus contests, I've been rediscovering my goth roots. I think it was brought on by my love of Interpol and The Faint and the deep goth threads that run through their stuff. When I moved to LA in 1990, goth was still fairly subversive. The clubs were divey and full of clove cigarettes, latex cleavage and psychotic drug and fucking...

*SUNDAY CONTEST!!*

All right, a lot of you babies complained that my last contest was too hard. (Yum-Yum) I still contend it's a brilliant record. Fuck contend, it IS brilliant record!

Anyway, here's an easy one. Name the band and the name of this release. They've been one of my life changing bands for about 18 years. They may be the best band ever....

Judging by the bauhaus contest and your current goth princesses occupying your favorite sections, I'd say you've been into the sage, writing with a quill pen by candlelight, and wearing your pointy toe boots again lately... biggrin

I haven't been online too much lately. I'm still waiting to hear about that job. My meeting with my future boss had to be canceled until next week.

Today will be a good day, though. I'm going to a Mark Ryden opening. My friend is going to break into his savings and buy a painting. You know mark Ryden stuff. He's crazy popular right now....

Holy shit...

A three hour interview! I just had such a long job interview, we had to break and start up again. The good news is that it went really, really well. I still have to go through another interview though, which I think will go well too. Still, I'm cautious. You know how it is.

I'm interviewing to be a development executive/producer at a...

Here's one thing. I'm interested in songs that can be considered "perfect songs." One time, Warren from His Name Is Alive said he made a 45 minute cassette of "Good Vibrations" on repeat and listened to it for three months straight.
Some of the songs I consider perfect are "How Soon Is Now?" by...

There are a few songs I can listen to for weeks on end on repeat, but I'm not sure if they're perfect.

I'm not sure about Lida's work before she became a solo artist, but I do know she was in the DC scene for a bit before.

I was introduced to her music because I thought the cover to "Fly Stereophonic", which had dancing food, with faces, on it was intriguing.

And didn't I already tell you that you'd get much better response to your cunning linguist resume? miao!!
Why is the entertainment industry suffering so badly? Isn't it during times like these that people most appreciate leaving behind real life and going to the movies/see a concert/buy some art? Maybe your industry just sort of hit a glass ceiling, and a little revamping is required to keep on going... It's happening everywhere, the excesses of the last twenty years have made us gen x'ers a big pile of shit to sift through. :barf:
Stay by that phone, and stick your tongue out just in case!

ARGUMENT FOR TEST SCREENING FILMS

"We were previewing Ninotchka (1939) and Lubitsch(the director) took the writers along too, to Long Beach. And they are outside in the lobby there, a stack of cards, with the audience invited to put down their thoughts. So, the picture starts playing, and it plays very well. Afterward, Lubitsch takes the cards, a heap of the cards, and doesn't let...
