Tonight, Danielle and I are going to Crush. This has taken the place of my salsa dancing. Even though it is more important for me to make sure that my friends are ok, I can't help but be a little sad at missing la salsa. That little selfish bit of me is annoying like a bruise on a fruit. And all I ever do is eat around it.

Some of the girls at work say that Christianity is the cure for the bruises on your fruit, so that instead of eating around it, you get rid of its cause - so, in my case, Christianity would keep me from dropping the fruit, or stepping on the fruit, or playing baseball with the fruit.

Too bad I think Christianity is a pile. I believe in the higher being(s), and it's awesome to have faith, but at what price? Shouldn't there be a balance between having your eyes open and damage (bruise) control?

Is this metaphor beyond repair?

S'ok.. it's mostly just coffee talk.

---

Coffee is sort of like alcohol... it's even served at a bar, and people come in and unload on me (like a bartender) all the time. Pinks, maybe you can back me up on this one.

People also tend to smoke more when they're drinking coffee.. so another likeness.

---

Last year, I read about the progression of the spice trade into things like coffee, tobacco and chocolate, and how these things were at first celebrated as delicacies and then shunned as disgusting habits (especially snuff - did you know they used to huff tobacco? ouch).

These things were especially sought out by intellectuals - artists in particular. I think some sort of oral-fixation/artist link is completely valid.

What do you think?
