All that scratching is making me itch. I just replaced my needles the other day, and in celebration, made a little scratch practice track yesterday afternoon:
Scratchy_6.01.mp3 (6 MB): I am obsessed with phrasing.
(^ Somebody go tell ck to get off Q-Bert's dick: The dick is full, sir . . . please step away from the dick.)

Actually, my conditioning was top notch. I may not train jiu-jitsu full time, but when I'm not in class, I'm at the gym. I was beat by my own mistakes. For some reason, I got really paranoid about the clock and did things a lot faster and a lot sloppier than I would have if I just relaxed. Good thing I never make the same mistake twice.
Steel Pulse was fantastic. The show was in a spot called the Grand Emporium, which I remember from the old days as being a blues bar; Kansas City had (has?) some gritty old-school blues dives back in the day. You used to be able to go into the Grand Emporium and buy red beans and rice with a plate of greens from this tiny mean...

I'm not entirely sure of what that is, though. I know it involves travelling- probably to Italy. Beyond that, I just don't know. Maybe if I stopped beating myself up about not knowing..

It was so wonderful to finally meet you. Good energy. Good feelings. Good people. I dunno about you, but I never ask for anything more.
I certainly hope the future brings more crossing of paths.

All love songs are really songs to God:
In a little situation
Came with a solution
Was a revelation to me
Triumphant call out
Triumphant! Triumphant!

Holy power is yours if you love like Jah:
Rejoice, rejoice!
Good tidings I bring you
Hear ye -- a message to you my friend
Voices cry invoke your angels
When pressure drop it cannot conquer dread, no...

Thanks to a comment left by Freshie, I made a startling realization about that fucking Neckface's real identity! I cannot warn you strongly enough: reading past this point may very well put you in danger! There are certain extremely powerful individuals who want the truth that I am about to reveal kept secret!

I feel like this creepy compulsion toward celebrity dick-riding that goes on in our media-space trumps all other concerns-- it's the forty-foot Blob that consumes everything around it, changing it into a pinkish-pablum; pre-masticated culture for those too lazy or too heavily medicated to chew their own.
It is the classic post-post-modern lament: talented and interesting artists languish, while stuff that sucks (or at least...

chinese, eh? it must be my grammar.
i'm totally sickened by the celebrity dick-riding culture too. i read somewhere (but i'm one of those that can't remember where...) about a recent poll they (yes, the infamous "they") took over here where they asked lots of random school children what they wanted to be when they grew up, and most of their replies had something to do with being a celebrity of sorts.
whatever happened to the good ole days where people wanted to win their fame by helping people--like saving lives as a doctor. long gone, yup. now it's just about the bling.

Right on son you've made my day
Saturday evening, Sophie, JesseJ and I were out together having a chat over curry and crepes. We were discussing the media monopolies that are dominating the publishing industry right now, and how this hegemony is affecting what ideas (and by extension, what artists) are getting exposed and put out there-- even to the extent that it affects the sorts of cultural/intellectual frameworks people use...

Hola!

My painting training was fairly traditional -- by modern standards, it was nearly draconian. I don't consider myself especially good, but if I could paint like anyone, it would probably be Diego Velazquez or Rembrandt Van Rijn.
So yeah, I love the Old Masters. At the same time I'm a hip-hop kid; I love graff, and I love street art. I especially love Doze Green...

I like graphs and lines of demarcation. I have annoyed liberal colleagues with neat 4x4 and Venn style diagrams. Annoyed because I suspect they did not see my subversive intent and my utter sincerity in their creation.
