My brother is here: DC2020! Introduce yourself and say hello (or we'll kidnap your motherfucking kid) . . . love him!

Yes, this is the same brother responsible for feeding Sophie and I in Chicago. What a winner. I'm only slightly bitter that over time he's become both the good one and the talented one. I'm used to being bad, but I'm not used to being second. I will find a way, however, because second place . . . tastes like victory.

Meta-question: Why are you here? I don't mean "incarnated on Planet Earth as an individuated consciousness"I mean, why are you on Suicide Girls? I find myself explaining this site quite a bit, particularly in light of explaining my relationship, which causes me to ponder and wonder. I'm sure for a lot of folks SG is all about the naked women. That would seem like a no-brainer, right? But not so fast, Sherlock.

When I first ran across SG, it was because somebody had posted an SG set on a Dungeons & Dragons forum I used to frequent. (Gamers = IT people = porn.) I thought the woman (and sadly, I don't even remember who it was) was interestinga real woman; not some creepy-weird fake inside and out porn princess. "You know that hot chick at the coffee shop? Want to see her naked?" Fucking A right.

I checked out SG, but wasn't interested in paying for what I perceived as porn; I mean, I do like the pr0n, but when you hang around l33t haxx0r$, you don't pay for anything on a computer. The site went into the misty reaches of my long-term memory, and I forgot about it for a year or so. Then, about this time last year, I started lurking on the boards; I thought they were by and large very intelligent and looked like a lot of fun.

Being in the midst of a dire fun-deficiency at that point in my sorry life on Backwards Earth, I signed up.

I posted on the boards quite a bit for a while, but it didnt take me long to discover the smoky back-room of SG where the real action happens; the user journals. This, for me, is where the value is-- honestly, I very rarely even look at the sets nowadays. 99% of the time I spend on the site is spent reading people's writing, commenting and essentially enjoying the community here. I appreciate you all; you are intelligent, witty, erudite, sassy gentle-beings and scholars. A few of you are going to be in my life for the rest of it and at least one of you is family.

I know I'm not the only one that has made real-life friendships with other members. In fact, it seems like a completely common occurrence on Suicide Girls. I met my dream woman on this site, and I surely never expected that when I signed up. In my experience, most online interaction is ultimately impersonal. You make friendships, true, but you don't go drinking with them. I've made several pen-pals over the years, but I've never met so many people in such a short time as I have through SG. It's an interesting and unique quality to the culture here that I truly appreciate.

If you are reading this, you are a component to that culture, and I thank you for it.

So, why are *you* here?

Hollatchaboy.
