I just found out about this, but the instructor lineup is *sick and wrong*; truly amazing. A 3-day concept art seminar here in my home city? WTF, over?
I've felt for a while that concept art is where the best painters are working; the fine-arts world frankly doesn't know its ass from a hole in the ground, and there is waaaay to much mediocrity dolled up with "high concept" to suit me. As far as I'm concerned, the elite painters are concepting for video games and film.
Of course, most folks never see concept art, unless they are part of the very geeky fandom subculture.
Nonetheless, these is my peoples, and they make the kind of images that I like. Most of them are trained similarly to myself, and draw from the same well of inspiration-- the old masters. Of course, we don't paint so much with religious allegory anymore, nowadays it's robot ninjas and psychically distressed sorcerers.
I have tried to contact these folks via phone and email, with no response. Of course, they're all going to be in transit. I have no idea if any space is open, but I'm going to show up tomorrow morning with a backpack full of drawing supplies, and hope that they can find some room for me.
