Okay. I have tried and tried, but haven't been able to connect with the English side or London in general. England just wasn't very good. Very highly hyped, but they failed to . . . uh, you know, play well. I wanted to like them, I really did, but . . . but . . .

I know everyone's bitching about Portugal's diving and so forth, but um. Rooney stomped dude's balls. Ronaldo played it up, but Rooney put his cleats on another man's nut-sack. Right! Off you go!

Zinadine Zidane on the other hand? Like woah. We (of course, because everything in London is negatively charged and metaphysically aligned to minimize anyone having any actual fun) missed the France Brazil game because the pissed off drunken English pub fans weren't any fun to hang around after the England loss. wink I caught highlights, though, and we definately watched the wrong game. Like woah. The old man Zidane showed his true quality. 3 time footballer of the year, and still no joke.

"I ain't no joke / I used to let the mic smoke / Now I slam it when I'm done and make sure it's broke."

My prediction, though, is a let-down game for France after their emotional win, and a Portugal victory. They'll have their full team back from suspension (won't they? It's a bit Byzantine) and should be firing on all cylanders. Despite their histronics and weenie-ness, they are really very good. Much like Italy in that regard, actually, although Argentina were the class of the World Cup, I felt, and Germany got it done against them, so I still like Deutchland.

Wednesday, I'll be in Berlin. I'm already ready. I can't wait, in fact.

Go Germany!

I've been loving the vindication Klinsmann has been getting in the European press. Apparently, he shook up German football by bringing in a sports psychologist (gasp) and Amerikaner physical therapists and fitness coaches (double gasp) who were cross training the atheletes (triple gasp). Then, when they got pasted 4-1 by Italy in a friendly last year, Klinsmann almost got fired.

Now? Now he's thiiis close to being diefied.

What really gets me is that I know I could have improved your London experience if only the gods hadn't conspired against us yesterday. Goddamn!

Berlin ist wundabar! Especially since Germany is still in it right now. Yeah, England was a big let down. I know they were tired from all the OT but still, I could've made better penalty kicks, it just bugged the crap out of me to watch. The Portugal players were fakin' the ball like crazy while the Englanders were practically kicking the ball right at the goalie almost every time. Woof! I think Portugal, unless France scores quick and holds on like they did against Brazil, will win again as well.
