Sweet, sweet beer. Why do we love you so? Last night's Germany - Argentina game was all we could have hoped. I've never actually been made horny by a soccer game before. I especially loved that the Argentinians melted down and tried to start a fight after losing. Arrogance often hides a soft charcter.
My friend in Afghanistan has been running combat operations with German soldiers, and they told the US guys that they needed to stand down for a couple of days in order to watch Germany - Argentina. Hahahahahaha. "Ve can't go kill der Taliban now, ze fussbal match ist on!"
We've loved the Germans that we've run in to-- they've really taken the "time to make friends" slogan to heart. Of course, we heard that there was a media blitz in Germany instructing the citizens to be friendly to visitors during the world cup, so maybe what they're really being is obedient.
Anyway, Germany vs. Italy is my dream matchup of good vs. evil (or at least it's a matchup of lesser evil vs. super fucking annoying evil). I think it's probably going to be Germany - Portugal for the whole shebang, although making predictions almost certainly guarantees that it won't happen.
We've been in Amsterdam the last few days (loved it) and are now in London through the 5th, then it's on to Berlin! Amsterdam is Sophie's favorite place for sure-- we had a great time there.
Go England! They've looked so bad, but who knows, maybe we'll get England v. Germany for the final, which would be a dream final for me, so GO ENGLAND!
