I found some more articles about the pirate attack. If you haven't read the article, it's in the journal previous to this one.

Apparently, these pirates weren't totally retarded-- they had put out a false SOS, hoping to lure the captain of the luxury ship into a trap where they could board.

The smaller boats were just a dozen pirates, frustrated by the captain's refusal to be a sucker, sallying forth to raise hell, generally yee-haw, and fuck with the passengers.

Ah, humanity: "I enjoyed the pyramids; the pirates . . . not so much."
