It was a cold August afternoon and I found myself with a task in hand that required a visit to a land of lost goods. Look what I left with:
18 old antique books! Some very rare, some just old. They all smell dusty, and have a caking of dust on them. Some are as old as the early 19th century! I have a love for books, too much so some may say. I also have a love for a time that has been. So books from such said time have a special place in my heart.
I have a dream! To own 'CJ5ive's Brew and a Book'. It is a dream I have had for some time, but plans that are only just starting to come together.
Imagine the scene:
You are walking down the high street and fancy a nice cup of tea. You find a lovely looking homely cafe named 'CJ5ive's Brew and a Book'. You enter, to find a room (preferrably 2) with walls painted rich reds and oranges. There are armchairs, sofas and oak coffee tables in the centre of the room(s).
Against the walls to the left and right are book shelves, full of second hand books. Each shelving unit with a different title ranging from 'Cheap Bargains' to 'Rare and Antique'. On one end there is a small oak counter with a big old cash register. Behind the counter the wall is painted cream, with paintings from local artists. There is a sweet smell of fresh baked bread in the air, and you notice the soothing pop-jazz playing in the background.
You walk to the counter to order a cup of tea and notice that there is a selction of herbal and exotic tea available. You order a Twinings Breakfast pot of tea and a fresh baked hot cross bun from the tall, dark and exceedingly handsome gentlemen serving.
As you go to your seat you notice a book in the 'Rare and Antique' book shelf. The title is 'Maps of the Known World'. You take the book from the shelf and notice that there is a small 'CJ5ive's' branded slip in it, dating the book to 1852. You look inside and realise that the book is full of wood carving images. You remember that your friend of 62 is having their being born day in a few weeks. The book is priced 40 and you feel it is well worth the price for your friend. You take the book to the counter to purchase the book and realise the artwork displayed is also available for purchasing. As you gaze at the masterpiece titled 'Untitled' and priced at 35 you remember that the empty space in your hallway has the perfect lighting for the contrast and colouring of such said painting. You purchase the painting that is wrapped in brown paper and tied with twine!
You then sit and eat your hot cross bun and enjoy your cup of tea. After 20 minutes of rest, you are re-energised and enthusiastic to face the rest of the day, safe in the knowledge that you have found the perfect gift for your friends birthday and that you have a an original masterpiece by CJ5ive to enjoy for the rest of your life.
This, is my dream!
