It's actually not hard at all to get a prescription if you have insurance. You don't even need to get a referral. Just call your insurance company and tell them you want to see a psychiatrist and they'll tell you what to do. Usually you just call a psychiatrist from their list and tell them how you're feeling. They'll set you up with an appointment to evaluate you (ask a heap of questions). If you feel the way it sounds like you feel, they'll probably prescribe to you on the spot. Mine did.

I've been going through the same things lately. I really want a dog. A bloodhound maybe. I've also been very depressed lately. It got bad enough that I went to a doctor and got a prescription for antidepressants. Maybe that's the easy way out, I don't know. I'm sorry you're sad. I hope things look up for you soon.
