I am still very enamored of karaoke. I sing 2-3 nights a week. The great thing about driving a truck for a living is that I can basically practice all day long, as I wind up and down the interstate. No one is gonna hear you miss a note over the sound of an 18-wheeler going 65mph. So, I enjoy a kind of freedom there that might not be available to others.
But, I have a tendency to take myself too seriously. I do really well most of the time, and people pepper me with compliments. I ain't gonna lie, I love that side of it. If I screw up a song people aren't booing and hissing, but I still cringe and try to forget it ever happened. In fact, praise is like crack, and I'm ashamed at how badly I want it.
(praise, that is. I don't want crack and really don't want my voice to crack.)
One of these days, in a desperate bid for attention, I'll post some videos. I'll have to remember to drag the camcorder out to karaoke.
Vacation time is drawing nigh. I'm travelling this year. If my boss gives the OK, I will take a second, unpaid vacation in addition to my paid time off. Egypt, Scandinavia, Russia and Japan are what I'm looking at right now. Mebbe Great Britain.
