Wow - I'm really lame about keeping up with posts. See, I have a Live Journal that I occasionally update, so I usually forget to update this one. <sigh> I wonder if I can link them somehow?

Anyway, 4 months of being unemployed really sucks. I'm amazed at how much it fucks with my sense of self-worth. I know people shouldn't be defined by their job, but try being laid off and see how well you can be "ok" with it and NOT feel completely worthless. smile

I'm not going to make this a "poor me" post. Not my thing - just expressing how I feel.

Things with my wife and I are better than ever. We had our 1 year anniversary back in September and we truly agree that we've had our "worst" and that's that. We're still crazy-stupid-in-love with each other and really don't see that ever changing - or even "mellowing" out at all.

Jess and I got a dog a week ago. She's a 4.5 month old Xoloitzcuintli. (Xolo for short) The common/slang name is Mexican Hairless - but she's NOT to be confused with a Chinese Crested. VERY different breed altogether. I named her Mia. Jess keeps asking me how/why I named her that because she names pets in accordance with something in their personality. Me, I just name them with a name that seems to "fit" - and for some reason, Mia works. smile
I've been working on training Mia and getting her comfy and happy in her new home, which hasn't been too easy of a task, truth be told. I almost wonder if the husband of the breeder was a bit overbearing with her because she really seems scared of me and she's REALLY under-socialized - which is something else that we're working on daily. It's been a very rewarding experience so far and I'm really happy with my decision to get her. She's keeping me sane through this whole "unemployed" period. Heh..

Rydell has a new set out that I'm REALLY diggin'. Check it out and show her some love. From what I hear, she's a very cool woman.

It is amazing how things we rarely even consider (like a job) contribute to our self worth. Since much of my own work is ephemeral, I'm amazed at how good it feels to work with my hands and build something.

And that is indeed a fine set. Lovely.
