18: While living in the Alaskan wilderness with my buddy Jerry, we come by a skinning box at the river bed, and I'm surrounded by adorable Grizzly cubs. The mother comes out from the brush no more than fifteen feet in front of me, and stands facing me. I am holding fish..................................................................Two minutes later the cubs walk to her, and off across the river. She moves down to all fours and, after one last look, walks off with them. A good old man has since given me a bear claw and deer bone choker, he told me it was made for me.
25: Dec. 28, 2003. Leaving a party to pick up some friends, my car slides across black ice and off a cliff. The car falls 45 feet and is smashed between two old growth trees and the cliff. I have a sore lower back and left shoulder, some very tiny cuts from all the glass, miraculously unharmed. That night I get drunk, and celebrate my survival, and sleep with a girl my friend is infatuated with. After pulling the "I almost died at your house!" card, I am forgiven.
