shoegal:

Impulsiveness and good credit are bad things, especially when combined with an offer of 24 months no interest. The result: a 51" HD TV and a surround sound system. I'm happy and in debt. biggrin

Today was one of those beautiful mother nature is pissed off days. I love a good storm, clouds covering everything and the wind blowing a cool slightly wet breeze. It made me happy.

Why is it that cats only like things that aren't actually meant to be toys for them? I buy my cat a cat tree, which is insanely large and seems like a...

I'm finally free of that place. My last night was sadly boring and pointless. Nothing exciting happened at all and I really didn't see any of the regulars, but whatever, it's not like they were people I hung out with anyway I guess.
So now I just have to adjust my sleep schedule (read as stay up another 14 hours or so) and I'll have...

Two more damn nights. I can't wait to get done with this and actually be able to hang out with people again.
Forgot to put my member name on something I sent Reagan to cheer her up. I was too busy remembering the wonderfulness that was Dead Alive I guess.

I'm so fucking pissed right now. How did more people in florida end up voting for Bush than did last time? It makes no sense to me. Just about everyone I know voted for Kerry, and a lot of those people are people who didn't bother to vote last time.
I was pissed off enough I sent one guy with a flat tire away last...

God dammit. I'm not an anti-semite by any means, but Israel was the worst idea the UN has ever had. Especially since they can't sanction them or anything since the US backs them eternally.
In just another example of them being absolute assholes in general, now they've decided to limit the worsshipers to the Al Aqsa Mospue in Jerulsalem because it is "too unstable." Mind...

do you really have any idea of what you're saying with "Israel was the worst idea the UN ever had?"
6 million people were murdered. why shouldn't the few million left in this world be able to have their own Jewish state?
chriztian:
Yeah, I actually have studied this quite a bit. The idea for Israel being a state was started by ex-Prime Minister Balfour of Britain, Balfour, who was then the Foreign Minister during the end of WWI. The "Balfour declaration" stated a that Palestine should be set up as a Jewish state, but it wouldn't affect the civil and religious rites of non-Jewish residents. That was a good idea.
However the Jewish settlers who started pouring in at this point had a different idea. They invisioned a Jewish state, based on Jewish laws. The Palestinians were very scared by this as this had been their ancestral home for centuries and fighting between the two groups erupted. At this point the British restricted immigration. In 1937 they put forth a plan to split Palestine into two states, one of the Jewish settlers, the other for the Palestinians based on population. This led to both sides attempting to drive the other out of certain areas and both sides engaging in terrorist activities against the British. The Jewish settlers had more money and more weapons against the Palestinian numbers. Reporting on all of this was hard to come by, especialIy unbiased reporting, but the end result was basically expansion of the areas with a Jewish majority as immigration rose again. n 1939 the British proposed to create a joint state in 10 years.
At this point things were suspended by WWII. The British had too much on their hands to deal with problems in Palestine, so they halted Jewish immigration for the duration.
In the aftermath of the atrocities commited by the Nazis the UN took up the idea of a Jewish state and partitioned the areas along the same lines the British had, based on Jewish population centers. The Jewish settlers were not satisfied with this because it did not match the religious ideal of the Jewish state. In 1948 war broke out between the Arab powers surrounding Isreal who did not want the influx of Palestinian refugees. and thought the creation of the Jewish state was a betrayal of earlier commitments made by the British. Israel won this war and grabbed large portions of the Palestinian state. Israel started ignoring UN resolutions calling for the right for Palestinians to return to their homes and started a program to settle the newly occupied areas with Jewish settlers. Areas such as the Negev desert. so they could claim the port of Elat in the south.
These sorts of things have continued and Israel has ignored 65 UN resolutions. They are ignoring the world court. They have annexed 21,000 square kilometers of land. 5,000,000 Palestinians are refugees in other countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. Over 200,000 Palestinians have been killed. 385 Palestinian villages and towns have been destroyed so Israel can claim that they have no right to the land.
Do I think that 6,000,000 people being murdered is a horrible thing? Yes, it is possibly the worst tragedy that has happened in modern times. However, I think that the UN should have realized the impracticle nature of what they were planning on doing.

Well damn, I'm actually in a good mood. Has a lot to do with having two days off and the fact that I've got great food to cook tonight. Has an itsy bitsy bit to do with one of my friends finally deciding to seek help for her depression. I miss her the way she used to be, and while I've stuck by her through...

I hate my fucking cunt-rag coworker. She's always fucking late and is just a rude bitch, and yet she gets promoted over me...because she fits the schedule for doing the paperwork in the morning. She was an hour and a half late on me today. I'm going to have to have a serious talk with my boss about this shit.
