God dammit. I'm not an anti-semite by any means, but Israel was the worst idea the UN has ever had. Especially since they can't sanction them or anything since the US backs them eternally.
In just another example of them being absolute assholes in general, now they've decided to limit the worsshipers to the Al Aqsa Mospue in Jerulsalem because it is "too unstable." Mind you this is the same holy site that now Prime Minister Ariel Sharon visited with a large number of armed body guards in 2000 and sparked the current Intifada.
Sept 28th was the 4 year anniversay of the start of the second Intifada and I've been debating posting about it or not. The fact of the matter is the whole thing is much too long to put down in one single post, after all numerous books have been written on it and it is still continuing.

6 million people were murdered. why shouldn't the few million left in this world be able to have their own Jewish state?
However the Jewish settlers who started pouring in at this point had a different idea. They invisioned a Jewish state, based on Jewish laws. The Palestinians were very scared by this as this had been their ancestral home for centuries and fighting between the two groups erupted. At this point the British restricted immigration. In 1937 they put forth a plan to split Palestine into two states, one of the Jewish settlers, the other for the Palestinians based on population. This led to both sides attempting to drive the other out of certain areas and both sides engaging in terrorist activities against the British. The Jewish settlers had more money and more weapons against the Palestinian numbers. Reporting on all of this was hard to come by, especialIy unbiased reporting, but the end result was basically expansion of the areas with a Jewish majority as immigration rose again. n 1939 the British proposed to create a joint state in 10 years.
At this point things were suspended by WWII. The British had too much on their hands to deal with problems in Palestine, so they halted Jewish immigration for the duration.
In the aftermath of the atrocities commited by the Nazis the UN took up the idea of a Jewish state and partitioned the areas along the same lines the British had, based on Jewish population centers. The Jewish settlers were not satisfied with this because it did not match the religious ideal of the Jewish state. In 1948 war broke out between the Arab powers surrounding Isreal who did not want the influx of Palestinian refugees. and thought the creation of the Jewish state was a betrayal of earlier commitments made by the British. Israel won this war and grabbed large portions of the Palestinian state. Israel started ignoring UN resolutions calling for the right for Palestinians to return to their homes and started a program to settle the newly occupied areas with Jewish settlers. Areas such as the Negev desert. so they could claim the port of Elat in the south.
These sorts of things have continued and Israel has ignored 65 UN resolutions. They are ignoring the world court. They have annexed 21,000 square kilometers of land. 5,000,000 Palestinians are refugees in other countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. Over 200,000 Palestinians have been killed. 385 Palestinian villages and towns have been destroyed so Israel can claim that they have no right to the land.
Do I think that 6,000,000 people being murdered is a horrible thing? Yes, it is possibly the worst tragedy that has happened in modern times. However, I think that the UN should have realized the impracticle nature of what they were planning on doing.
