POETS GOTTA FOOL AROUND UNTIL THEY DIE

God came into my room, one evening
He sat on the bed, next to the chair
He played His guitar and He began this song:

I know you've been working hard, green eyes
And I know you've been down
I know you've been lonely
And I know you've been sad
So I came to give you this message, green eyes
It's true as the sky is blue:

Fishes gotta swim, horses gotta run
Poets gotta fool around until they die
Until they die, like a ball of fire, a ball of fire
A shooting star, a ball of desire, in the night

Birds gotta fly and snails crawl
Poets gotta fool around until they cry
Until they cry, their fire away, in the night

Fishes gotta fish and horses gotta horse
Poets gotta poet until they find, until they find
Someone to love, their blues away, in the night

Birds gotta bird and snails gotta snail
Poets gotta poet until they die, until they die
Poets gotta love someone until they cry, until they cry
Until they burn their burn, their blues away, in the night
