My friend Courtney, who is a musician, had the flu,
very badly, during flu season, - and to cut to the chase -
She was riding in the car while her husband Jeff was driving
and I was in the back seat. And she began singing - in a nice voice -
"I've got the flu and the cooties" - and that was all she sang. And
I wanted her to finish the song. And she never did. But I wanted the
song so badly that after my meditation one evening I wrote this poem.

Alack!

My friend Courtney had the flu
And she also had cooties (all over) which made her blue
She had shoes on her feet and my hat on her head
Still she went with her husband Jeff to bed
And still she had the flu and the cooties from her toes to her head

And yet the flu and the cooties didn't keep her from being a happy cutie
She would sing all day long "I've got the flu and the cooties
I'm such a cutie
Watch me shake my booty"

And she shook her booty till the cooties and the flu
Went away into the grass, alas,
In the yard
And she said you, Chrissy, the bard of Lakewood,
You write a poem about my cooties and flu
And so I did and now she's rid of both cooties and flu

And happily I light up a smoke
And she and Jeff light up a joint and Courtney tells a joke
While the grass she inhales makes her laugh at the
funny poem I just wrote

I'm so cold, I'm afraid I may be coming down with the flu, too
And I'm not a cutie or a beauty
But I'll shake my booty anyway

Alas and alack I'm having a cootie attack
Alas and alack, someone scratch my back
I'm under attack,
Alack!
