We were impressed by this thread so much, that we decided to build the functionality into SG.
On an album page, if you hold down CTRL (Command for Mac users) then click on an image, the "original" or "full-size" image will open in a new tab.

I think it is a good start, but it is not really a functionality I would ever use. I know CourtneyRiot has said on several occasions that you all are working on a full size viewer and I hope this does not replace that. How it was back on the previous site before they redid they viewing options was my favorite by far. I personally never want to see the pictures fit to screen and each one open in a new tab is tedious. I am sorry I am not as helpful with code as Joatroahie, but the old site had the option in settings to default as HTML or Flash viewing for sets. An option to default gallery viewing to full size or fit to screen should appease the masses. Just my thoughts for what it is worth.

@lazaruscries we have a "full-size viewer" on the docket. This fix will not replace that.
