Many of you probably read the story in the SG news, Rest in Peace: Daniel Robert Epstein.
Like most of you, I was shocked and horrified.
I just corresponded with Daniel last week, the two of us often shared contacts and helped each other out on stories. He interviewed me twice for Suicide Girls which is how I became familar with his work and the fact that SG is something beyond photos of beautiful women.
I met Daniel in New York a few years ago and he was always so enthusiastic. I loved reading his interviews as they seemed more like casual conversations one might have in a bar with someone you admire rather than a traditional Q&A. He had a passion for all of his subjects and it came out in the writing. His contribution to the site cannot be measured.
Something like this always shows how precious life really is, here today, gone tomorrow. It helps put things in perspective, what's important and what is not.
My thoughts go out to his family. He was a treasure and will be missed. I know I will miss him.
