My Oscar wrap up...
It's been called "The Gay Super Bowl" and with all the emphasis on fashion, that's probably accurate. But actually watching the Oscars must only be for old school film freaks like me, or those who enjoy torture. Yeah, I mean, when they are clapping for performances of "shadow puppets," we have really lowered the bar for entertainment. Thank God for Tivo...

i totally agree w/you on the Academy being out of touch with the American movie going public...and i got 11 picks right, 16 if you count my second choices

Yeah, appreciate the kind words here. They just need to cut the show down to under 3 hours and give more time to unscripted moments like the acceptance speeches.

As for G4, well, all TV is made for a mass audience, which can be restricting so it can feel like it's for teenage boys sometimes. But when you really watch AOTS regularly, I will tell you that all the hosts know what they are talking about rather than other talking heads who only read off teleprompter and often haven't a clue about the subject matter they are speaking about. And AOTS will leak intelligent information between the short attention span. And they include their audience in more ways than any show on TV through the web and allowing them to ask questions view a web cam. Compared to other shows in the same TV magazine format, I think it's among the best, if not, the best.

They allow me to say whatever I want without over-producing the content, so I can go on a rant or explore a topic. The biggest enemy is the medium itself, which is built on moving things along quickly, so I get about 5 minutes to talk about 3 DVDs which means it goes by fast. I can't say I've been on many other TV shows where I can walk on and say whatever I want. And I get away with quite a bit. I mispronounced "Shit-head" once saying shiTHead and I even swear in sign language. It's a blast!

Anyway, all this TV talk reminds me of a joke---
How many kids with ADD does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
I don't know.
Wanna play Playstation!

Later.

I do have a PS3, and I'm diggin' the Blu-Ray. Unfortunatly, sometimes the special features can be a little skimpy compared to the regular DVD editions.

After watching yesterday's dvduesday, I have to disagree. When The Illusionist came out on dvd, you said it was a buy. I thought The Prestige was better than The Illusionist for the sole fact that The Illusionist was so predictable. My theories to the end of The Prestige were way off so I was pleasantly surprised. I'd much rather be surprised than right. I also wonder if it makes a difference that I saw The Prestige before I saw the Illusionist. Hmm. But if you were basing it off special features, I suppose I can see how you would choose The Illusionist. Suffice to say we bought The Prestige and not The Illusionist. Scarlett Johansen is way hotter than Jessica Biel. biggrin
