Online bullying.

So it's been all over the news that Charlotte Dawson was found dead this morning and is suspected to be a suicide possibly stemming back to the shit she copped on Twitter.

Regardless of Charlotte Dawson and the twitter crap should more be done about online bullies and trolls?

Esp inregards to children and teens. I know of a few kids who have had to stay off the net due to school bullying continuing online after school hours.

Is it ok for people to say what ever they like behind a keyboard without risk of repercussions?

or

Should people only say what they would have the guts to say to others in person?

I'm not talking about the one off calling someone a dick, idiot, fuckwit or what ever else you can think of. I'm talking about the relentless daily attacks on someone for no reason other than some perverse pleasure. From what I have found some of the things said to online bloggers regardless of their status are quite horrible and disgusting.

Is there enough being done to combat suicide rates esp for those who are returned service men and women, from the GLTBIQ demographic and more so the teens etc coming to terms with their sexuality or gender identity.

Farmers in QLD Aus are represented higher than any other occupation.

Suicide can also have a knock on effect leading to grief stricken family members having extensive trouble dealing with the loss and even tuning to suicide themsleves.

In Aus between 200o and 3ooo people die by their own hand each year. Around 10 people per 100,000 More than the national road toll yet it never gets the attention from those in power that it needs and deserves.

In Russia it's even higher at 19 per 100,000

Greenland is listed at #1 with 83 per 100,000

According to Lifeline Australia.

In Aus:

For every completed suicide it is estimated that as many as 30 people attempt
That’s 180 attempts per day
That’s more than one new attempt in Australia, every 10 minutes
It is estimated that 249 people make a suicide plan everyday
It is estimated that as many as 1014 people think about suicide every day
